An idea comes to you. Write it down.
Voice input, directly in the tools you use every day.
The keyboard is not always the most direct way
Clarifying a message, saving an idea or revising a paragraph: some texts come more naturally when spoken aloud than typed.
Current dictation tools often require you to speak clearly, move the text or correct the result in another window. We want to reduce this disruption.
The experience we are aiming for
In the tool you already have open
Place the cursor in an email, note or document, without preparing a separate transcription space.
Speak naturally
Hold down a key, express your thoughts and stay in control of when the microphone is active.
Get usable text
Get the text at the cursor, then review and edit it like any other written content.
What still needs to be built
The application is not available yet and its speech recognition engine is in development. Accuracy, latency, compatible applications and the first platforms will need to be measured and validated before launch.
The examples on this page describe an intended use, not a feature that has already been released.
Very ordinary texts
Reply
A message that needs more than one line
Lay out the substance of your reply by voice, then review it before sending.
Do not lose your train of thought
An idea during another task
Add it to the note that is already open without interrupting what you were doing for long.
Develop
A first draft
Outline a structure aloud before refining the details with the keyboard.
